About the Founder: Matt Rodriguez
Elite Regulatory Oversight for the Modern FFL
Matt Rodriguez founded Ironsight Compliance, LLC. to solve a critical industry failure: the fact that most firearms businesses lack the dedicated resources to navigate an increasingly hostile regulatory landscape. With over 18 years of "in-the-trenches" experience, Matt provides FFLs with the high-level expertise typically reserved for billion-dollar corporations.
Proven in the Highest Stakes
Before launching Ironsight, Matt led compliance for some of the most recognizable names in the industry:
Primary Arms, LLC (Director of Compliance & Legal Services): Managed all regulatory operations for a $200M+ e-commerce leader, overseeing 70,000+ annual firearm transactions. Implemented Export Compliance programs for items controlled under the EAR/ITAR. Established interstate sale automations for not just firearms, but parts & accessories. It was here that Matt held the line against regulatory overreach, successfully identifying and challenging multiple ATF IOIs who attempted to cite the company for regulations that did not exist—resulting in those items being struck from the final report.
Academy Sports + Outdoors (Senior Compliance Auditor): Spent 15 years mastering corporate compliance at scale. Matt worked the first 5 years, at the store level, as a team leader behind the firearms counter and the next 10 at the corporate level, supporting FFL’s in over 17 different states. Matt was the "fixer" brought in to remediate critical inspection failures from ATF Compliance Inspections, including Warning Conferences.

The Ironsight Mission
"I started Ironsight because I saw a dangerous trend: when the industry has a flat year, compliance is often the first thing cut because it isn't a 'profit center.' But in a constantly changing regulatory era, that's exactly when your business is most at risk. I founded this firm to ensure that elite-level compliance is an affordable, permanent asset for every dealer, not a luxury that gets cut when things get tough." — Matt Rodriguez
